I remember doing lawn work under the heat of the Southern California sun. My youth group at church was doing yard work for a sick elderly woman in our congregation. I was 14 years old and was becoming grumpy, but it was then I remembered the words of Jesus, “..to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.” (Matthew 25:45)
I realized that day service to my neighbor was service to God. I’ve never let that go.
For the next 2 years, I worked at a wonderful place called Injoy Life Resources where I helped adults with developmental disabilities learn life skills, master behavioral issues, and experience joy and growth in their lives. It was a magical place.
It was at Injoy Life Resources that I learned to serve in situations that were different and even difficult.
It was at InJoy Life Resources where I met Hannah, who would later become my wife.
It was a magical place!
My wife and I wanted our lives to look differently. We wanted more time with our children. We wanted to do work that supported our community. We wanted to do work that was needed and blessed our neighborhood.
In 2023 we opened Serenity Home Care, a residential assisted living facility in the heart of Cypress, CA.
We hope to open more homes in the area and build a legacy of compassionate care in our community.
